Meet Nancy

My name is Nancy Hamilton, and I am running for Position 2 on the Port Angeles School District Board. My deep passion for education drives my candidacy, and I believe in the transformative power of equitable, high-quality education for every child in our community.

Education is the cornerstone of our future, and I am committed to fostering an environment where every student can thrive.

I champion transparency and integrity in governance, ensuring that all decisions are made with the best interests of our students, educators, and community at heart. I believe in open communication and accountability, essential attributes for a strong school board member.

I am running because I aim to strengthen the connection between the Board and the Port Angeles community. Growing up I have attended Port Angeles Schools, I am a mother of 4 with 2 children in the Port Angeles School District, and my husband has been a dedicated educator in the Port Angeles School District for 15 years. Additionally, I am a first generation descendant of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. I am deeply invested in the success of our schools. I am committed to working alongside you to ensure our children’s educational journey is filled with opportunity and support.

As a parent with children currently enrolled in our school district, I understand firsthand the impact of board decisions. My family and I are directly affected, which provides me with a unique and valuable perspective. This personal investment ensures I will approach every decision with careful consideration with community input for the long-term well-being of our children.

I am a very capable and positive person. I am a dedicated listener and deeply care about the experiences of every family within the Port Angeles School District. My goal is to support educators and parents, working collaboratively to build a bright and promising future for our students. My background includes serving as a:

  • Graduate of Peninsula College;
  • Certified Peer Counselor for Washington State;
  • Former Family Advocate for the the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe (LEKT);
  • Former Sexual Assault Response Team Coordinator for LEKT.

I currently work as the Community Liaison for the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and also have experience as a certified peer health educator for the State Washington. I bring substantial leadership experience to the School Board and have current and prior experience serving on the following Boards:

  • Current Chairperson for the Johnson-O’Malley (JOM) committee (previously served as the secretary and member at large and served on the committee for three years)
  • Elected member of the Parent Policy Council for LEKT House of Learning for three years
  • Appointed as a Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Housing Commissioner.

These experiences have instilled in me a strong work ethic and a commitment to public service. I am honored by the trust placed in me and strive to consistently sustain the highest standards in upholding that trust. Thank you for your consideration and for your vote for Position 2 on the Port Angeles School District Board if given this opportunity to contribute to our community.
