Increasing Transparency & Open Communication

One of Nancy’s goals is to increase transparency on our School Board. As a parent with students currently attending our PA schools, she knows firsthand how important an open and transparent Board is. Our families deserve to know how decisions are being made that affect our school community and the future of our students.

Promoting Accountability

As elected officials, School Board members should be accountable to our students, teachers, and families. There is more the School Board can do more to be accountable to the school community. Through her experiences on other boards, Nancy knows how important community input is towards ensuring accountability and she is looking forward to fostering communication to improve the accountability of our School Board to our community.

Bringing Parent Voices to the Table

Right now, there are no parents of current students on the School Board – and that’s an important voice that’s missing. If elected, Nancy will be the only School Board Member who has students currently enrolled in the Port Angeles School District. As a parent with current students, Nancy knows firsthand the struggles our students are facing – from classroom quality to extracurricular access. Nancy wants to ensure that all voices are represented – including the voices of families – when decisions are being made.

Supporting the People who Make Our Schools Successful

Nancy is dedicated to supporting our local educators. Our educators and school staff are the backbone of our district. As both a parent and wife of a school teacher, Nancy knows firsthand how hard school staff work to ensure student success. Nancy believes that we need a school board that is there to support them – not just with respect and stability, but with the resources needed within the classroom as well as adequate facilities to truly help students succeed.

While Nancy has identified a number of issues to work on, she believes in hearing from the voices of families and constituents who also care deeply about our schools. Nancy is committed to hearing from community members now and raise these issues during forums.
